Greenwich Kiwanis embarks on a 3-2-1 Odyssey

The Greenwich Kiwanis Club is changing how they do business by putting the spotlight on service and creating multiple venues and times for club meetings.  The 3-2-1 concept is this:  3 hours of service per month, 2 non-program meetings per month and one programmed meeting per month.  "The club has been fairly split over where and when to meet", said club President Nick Edwards.  "We feel by creating different days, times and venues this will allow more participation by more members.  The other rich benefit to this new format is that the emphasis is squarely on service, our job as club leaders is making sure we have enough service opportunities for everyone, and that's a happy problem to have", Edwards continued.

The new format work like this:  The first Thursday of every month we meet at our current location for our formal programmed meeting with a speaker.  The second Thursday of the month is our luncheon meeting.  This meeting does no feature a speaker but is instead a round-table discussion of club business.  The third Saturday of the month is our weekend breakfast meeting.  This meeting will be held in a variety of locations and will also be a non-program meeting.

This variety of meeting options should have great appeal for prospective new members that live in town but work outside of town and visa versa.

The changes go into effect in February 2010.
